Viridor Waste (Thames) Ltd operate an existing solid waste landfill site at Beddington near Croydon, South London. With tightening legislation on landfill licensing and reductions in disposalcapacity, Viridor have developed the facility and invested in ‘new’ technology to maximise the remaining solid waste landfill capacity. This project is for the provision of a solid waste reception building housing a Dano Drum for processing 110,000 tonne/annum of the waste to separate out the organic and small materials, known as Dano Fines from the larger rejects material. The reject material, being approximately 50% by volume, is taken to landfill, whilst the Dano Fines material is further processed by two-stage composting to meet the requirements of the Animal By-Products Regulations.
