Baldovie Waste to Energy Project
Sector: Waste Management
Cost: 43000000
Client: Dundee City Council
Location: Dundee, Scotland
Project Details
The plant is sized to handle a varied waste stream (municipal, clinical, commercial, industrial, rubber tyres, liquid, etc.) of 120,000 tonnes p.a. and recovers 5,500 tonnes of metal for resale. It replaces a similar size mass-burn plant from the 60’s unable to meet current emissions standards. The new plant comprises a waste reception hall, solid waste separation, shredders, processed waste storage, 2 fluidised bed boilers providing steam to a 10.5 MW turbine generator unit and providing 8.3 MW electrical power available for net export. This project had a long project development phase as it was one of Scotland’s first PFI projects.
