The 80km motorway in Jamaica extended westwards from the capital Kingston to Williamsfield and then on to Montego Bay on the north coast. Innovative design to overcome the difficult terrain and unpredictable weather conditions also allowed the highway to be to open to traffic 18 months after the commencement of design. In 2007 it was ‘Highly Commended’ for the Quality in Construction Award, for ‘International Performance’.
